82-Year-Old Woman Bags Bachelor’s Degree From The University Of Maryland With Honors And Celebrates the Achievement
82-year-old, Mae Beale has inspired many across the world after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).
Just one day after her 82nd birthday, Mae Beale was presented with her certificate. Mae Beale, who was in her late 70s when she enrolled in school to obtain a Bachelor’s degree, was mentioned in a press release from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).
She had already spent several years working as a licensed practical nurse in Washington DC, United States.
Beale had a lengthy career as an LPN in Washington, D.C., working for government and medical institutions such as Children’s National Hospital, the National Naval Center (now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center), and the Washington VA Medical Center Hospital. She later joined the Department of Health and Human Services, the statement read.
“It was at the Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid where Beale’s career pivoted toward business and event planning,” the statement continued.
Mae Beale opined that her supervisors thought she had something special as she organized large events while she was working at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
According to the press release, Beale began her own event planning company in 1994 at the age of 54 and enrolled at Howard Community College to obtain an associate’s degree in business management.
