Takeoff, the third member of Migos alongside rappers Quavo and Offset, was murdered in the early hours of the morning.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot dead in a Houston bar in the United States where he was playing craps with Quavo at around 2:30 am. The rapper was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people who were at the scene were shot and taken to the hospital, Quavo is unharmed.
According to TMZ, police sources and several witnesses said the fatal incident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m., when officers received a call about a man shot at a bar called 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston. Witnesses have told how it all allegedly happened, see here.
On Twitter, friends and fans paid tribute to the late rapper. “I remember Takeoff as a very down-to-earth and cool guy,” wrote boxer Chris Eubank Jr. “I can’t believe it. I can’t believe I have to say this again about another young black star killed for no reason, something needs to change in the industry.”
Rest in peace Takeoff, I spoke to him recently,” Twitch streamer Adin Ross wrote. “I’m in shock right now, I can’t believe it. I pray to God this is fake. This shit is not just my brother, wtf.” In a video circulating online, Quavo looks distraught as Takeoff lies on the ground, already lifeless.
Takeoff, 28, was a key part of Migos, forming the group with his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset. Together, the trio enjoyed colossal success, their “Culture” trilogy helping to reshape commercial hip-hop in a new decade.
